Casa Gran Artist in Residence

Information for Applicants

Thank you for your interest in the Casa Gran Artist Residency. Due to the high number of applications we receive, we ask you to read the following information carefully before applying.

About the Residency

Casa Gran offers three artist residencies per year, each lasting one month. The residency takes place in a shared house environment and is designed to support artists working with edition-based practices.

Because places are extremely limited and interest is high, response times may be longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the selection process.

Who This Residency Is For

This residency is specifically intended for:

  • Solo artists only (no families, partners, or companions)

  • Art photographers

  • Graphic artists working with print-based or editioned work

  • Artists interested in limited editions, multiples, or printmaking as part of their practice

Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applications from artists whose work falls outside these areas.

Living & Working Conditions

Please note that Casa Gran is a shared residential house, not a formal artist residency complex.

  • Artists are provided with a private room within the shared house

  • There is no dedicated art studio or workshop on site

  • The residency is best suited to artists who:

    • Work digitally

    • Work with small-scale processes

    • Develop conceptual or research-based projects

    • Work outdoors or in external facilities

Applicants whose practice requires large studio space, heavy equipment, or specialist infrastructure may find the residency unsuitable.

Contribution to the Residency Program

To help sustain and fund the residency program, selected artists are asked to:

  • Offer one photograph or print produced during the residency

  • This work will be sold as a limited edition

  • Printing costs will be fully covered by Casa Gran

  • Sales proceeds are used exclusively to support the ongoing residency program

This contribution allows the program to remain viable and independent.

Documentation & Visibility

As part of the residency:

  • Each artist will be invited to record a short filmed presentation about their work and residency experience

  • These videos form part of an archival and promotional collection documenting the artists hosted at Casa Gran

Application Process

If, after reading the above, you feel the residency is a good fit for your practice, please complete the application form linked below.
